Job Title: Middle School Girls' Track Coach
Location: Southern Middle School, Person County Schools, North Carolina
Reports To: Athletic Director and Principal
Job Summary
The Middle School Girls' Track Coach is responsible for developing and overseeing the girls' track program, focusing on skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and fostering a positive environment for student-athletes. The coach will organize and lead practices, training sessions, and meets while adhering to school and district policies. This position includes an athletic stipend.
Duties and Responsibilities

Program Development:
- Plan and implement effective practice sessions and training programs for girls' track and field events.
- Develop strategies to enhance athletic performance and team cohesion.
- Encourage participation and skill development for athletes of all ability levels.

Supervision and Safety:
- Ensure the safety and supervision of student-athletes during practices, meets, and transportation to events.
- Maintain equipment and ensure its proper use.

Team Leadership:
- Promote sportsmanship, respect, and teamwork among athletes.
- Act as a role model for students, demonstrating integrity and enthusiasm.

Administrative Tasks:
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, eligibility, and student progress.
- Communicate regularly with parents, school administration, and the Athletic Director about schedules, goals, and expectations.

Compliance:
- Uphold all district, conference, and state athletic regulations.
- Ensure student-athletes meet academic and behavioral eligibility standards.

Representation:
- Represent the school positively at all meets and competitions.
- Build relationships with opposing teams and officials to promote good sportsmanship.

Other Duties:
- Participate in pre-season and post-season meetings and evaluations.
- Collaborate with other coaches to support the school’s overall athletic program.
Qualifications
- Experience in track and field (coaching and/or participation preferred).
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Passion for working with middle school students and helping them achieve their potential.
- Knowledge of fundamental track and field techniques and training methods.
- Commitment to supporting the academic and athletic success of student-athletes.

This position includes a competitive athletic stipend as outlined in the district’s stipend schedule.
